ギターはギブソン・レスポールを愛用し、主にリズムギター（サイド・ギター）を担当。

前身バンドとなる X（エックス） 時代からの欠かせないメンバーの一人です、

バンドリーダー YOSHIKI さんと幼馴染みである TOSHIiさんの２人で 「X 」 が結成され

東京においての活動初期の頃から在籍していた一人がPATAさんです。

PATAさんは X JAPAN においてリズムギターという立場で X JAPAN のサウンドを支え、圧倒的な存在感を放っています。

バンドという形態は基本的にボーカル、ギター、ベース、ドラムで構成されています。

そのギターが２人になることで重厚感かつ奥行きがあり深みのあるサウンドを創り出しているといえます。

主立ったメロディーやソロを聴かせる華やかなリードギター。

それに対してリズムギターは、バッキングなどでリードギターのサポート的な立場です。

とはいえテクニックはリードギター相当を要求されており、いなくては成り立たない縁の下の力持ち的な存在です。
